July Birthstone: Ruby Red
The ruby has been a hot commodity for centuries. Legends say that the ruby has its own light, an inner flame. Some have claimed that if a ruby were placed in water, the water would boil; others have insisted that a ruby could shine through clothing. Rubies are mentioned in the Bible to evoke beauty and wisdom; they were used by various ancient people for protection, peace, and invincibility; and they were symbols of health, wisdom, wealth, and love for European royalty. Many of these attributes, combined with the ruby’s gorgeous color, still attract us to rubies today.
With its deep red hues and fiery sparkle, it is only fitting that the ruby is July’s birthstone. Its color arouses romance, love, lust, and intensity, making it a treasured gem for all to wear. While it’s impractical for anyone but Dorothy to wear Harry Winston’s Ruby Slippers (check them out here!), we’ve got some beauties at London Gold that will send you over the rainbow!
How beautiful is this vintage-inspired halo ring from Beverley K?! It has everything you’d want in a ruby piece: a gorgeous 6x4 mm 1.7 ct ruby oval center with halo, ruby and diamond accents in a stunning design, and it can be set in 18k white, rose, or yellow gold, or even platinum.
And we have to show you the pair of earrings that would match perfectly. Also from Beverley K, these ruby hoops are also designed with a vintage setting and feature channel-set French-cut rubies and diamonds, along with milgrain detailing and engraved sides. They can also be set in 18k white, rose, or yellow gold, or platinum.
We also love these sweet, beautiful, and uncomplicated ruby and diamond estate earrings. They are cluster-set earrings that have rubies paired with 3 1/3 carats of diamonds and are set in 18k yellow gold.
For a major ruby statement, London Gold has created this ruby gem—a very fine Oval Ruby weighing more than 4 carats is set between two half-moon side diamonds and round side diamonds. This sparkling two-tone piece is set in 18k white and yellow gold and is absolutely breathtaking!
