Cleaning & Inspecting Jewelry
Want to keep your jewelry sparkly clean and intact? With the hustle and bustle of daily life, and some poor jewelry habits (we wear our diamond ring while painting, washing dishes, gardening, and cleaning out the garage, for example), we may be building up grime in our jewelry without even noticing! Of course, by being hard on our fine jewelry and neglecting to have it inspected, at times we end up losing a stone--a stressful and costly result!
How Often Should You Check Your Jewelry?
At London Gold, we suggest checking your diamond jewelry, and especially your diamond engagement ring, every 6 months. When your jewelry is inspected, the jeweler will look for any dents, prongs that need to be adjusted or retipped, and they will make sure the diamonds and stones aren't loose. Afterwards, the jeweler will treat your jewelry to a London Gold Spa Day, which includes our ultrasonic pink bath. Afterwards, your jewelry will be steamed, cleaned, and ready to sparkle. In some cases, when your jewelry is inspected it may need to be rhodiumed or polished, as after many years of wear, the shine of the gold can flatten and scratch.
Cleaning Your Jewelry
Cleaning your jewelry at home is also a good idea between your visits for a London Gold Spa Day. Visit London Gold to get our special foam jewelry cleaning kit ($15). Our special cleaning solution is safe on pearls and opals, and comes with a brush to scrub those hard to reach place. You just add water and rub your jewelry under the sink (make sure to PLUG your sink so you do not lose any stones, just in case one is loose).
