August Birthstone: Peridot
The allure of the special green August birthstone—the peridot—has been strong since the time of ancient Egypt, where it was known as the “gem of the sun.” Its color can range from pure green, to yellowish green, or even a brownish green, and its soft hue evokes the sense that fall is just around the corner. More impressive than its unique color is where these semi-precious gems are found: in meteorites and stardust, in lava, and far beneath the surface of the earth.
We are glad to offer you peridot beauties at London Gold. Peridots look absolutely stunning set in either yellow or white gold; just take a look at these rings!
The first ring is a 1.19 carat peridot set in a 18K yellow gold in a halo setting. Surrounding it are beautifully colored G S11 round brilliant diamonds totaling .57 carats. The second ring is a 2.12 carat peridot set in a 18k white gold halo setting. It is also surrounded by beautiful diamonds with a total .45 carat weight.
Not only do peridots look gorgeous set in yellow or white gold or platinum, but peridots also compliment other gemstone colors exceptionally well and make for very versatile gems themselves. This Elle bracelet is the perfect example, featuring peridot, amethyst, citrine, and garnet oval stones set in a hammered texture finish and faceted shine.
Peridots are wonderful gemstones that give an elegant look, but are fairly priced. Come and visit us at any London Gold to see our amazing peridot jewelry!
