Two of the hottest trends shown by international fashion designers were art-inspired prints and flowers of every kind. For example, Dolce & Gabbana showed short and long pouf dresses with bold strokes of hand-painted colors; Fendi used OpArt-type shadow prints in rainbow patterns and Prada opted for romantic Art Nouveau illustrations.
Flower power was the dominant look from Gucci, Armani, Ralph Lauren and Anne Klein. With all the multicolored excitement, the choice of which gemstones to wear is wider than ever: You can match the colors in the clothes or go for a contrast. For single-color looks, think rich tones of ruby, sapphire, amethyst, tanzanite, rubellite and green tourmaline.
Two other stylish options are designs combining several different-colored gemstones or a tonal combination of light/medium/dark hues. Always a spring favorite is the lighthearted look of citrine and peridot with either blue topaz or amethyst. For a tonal look, choose three shades of citrine ranging from pale yellow to deep cognac or, mix amethyst with pale blue topaz and deeper blue iolite.
Finally, as the hotter temperatures approach, don’t forget to accent your wardrobe with summer’s all-time favorite gems: turquoise, mother-of-pearl, amber and coral. |
