Step by Step...Watch a New Custom Creation Take Shape at London Gold

Watch step by step as a London Goldcosumer's new custom creation takes shape! The process begins with a discussion and a drawing, and concludes with a one-of-a-kind jewel!

The process begins! In consultation with our client a design concept
is considered and precise drawings are created to communicate the
details of the sapphire and diamond ring.

The next step is to begin carving the wax model that will be used
to produce the rough casting of the platinum ring.  This is
accomplished free-hand from a solid block of wax....akin to
carving a statue from a block of granite!

The process continues as the wax is reduced to it's final shape.
A few hours invested at this point!

The final shape is fit to the center setting of the ring, to assure
the proper dimensions.

After the wax is completed it is transformed into a rough casting.
This is a critical phase of the process, and must be done by
specialists in platinum casting. The base components are
inspected to assure that there are no defects.

There is a lot of work left to do at this point.  The rough casting
must be detailed to make it 'semi-finished', and the settings for
the sapphire and diamond must be added.

Inside London Gold's state-of-the-art StarWeld laser welder, the semi-
finished casting is having prongs added that will hold the side
diamonds.

The center setting for the sapphire has been laser welded into the
base mounting, and the semi-finished ring mounting is ready for
pre-finish detailing. On to the next stage of setting the gems!

The loose gemstones are pre-fit into their settings.  Precise fit
and alignment are critical at this stage.

Now it's time to start actually setting the gemstones....Diamonds
first!

The diamonds are set and semi-finished.  More time will be spent
in finishing detail, after the difficult task of setting the center
sapphire is accomplished.

It's time to be Oh...so careful...The sapphire must be set straight
and level, and care must be taken not to damage this beautiful gem!

Wow...I sure skipped a few steps between the beginning of setting
the sapphire and finishing the ring.....But, I knew you couldn't
stand the suspense!  Total labor time at this point in the project
was in excess of 30 hours!

Knowing one picture would just not do....here's another view!

As with all fine jewelery, the more time you spend inspecting and
paying attention to the details, the more the finer points are
appreciated.  We know that there are countless hours available
to judge the quality of the finished piece while you are wearing it.
Our goal is to exceed your most demanding expectations!

Seeing it's final finished form, we hope you will agree that creating
the jewelry of your dreams can be fun!  At London Gold we pride ourselves in our
ability to create truely world-class, one-of-a kind masterpieces....
for you and future generations to come.
